Victor then heads to Benji’s house, and he meets Hank, Benji’s sponsor. Rahim is completely understanding of his situation and believes it will all work out. He reveals Benji has had some problems with drinking in the past and breaks down the issues he’s had with his mother. Victor confides with Rahim about his argument with Benji in the dark photography room. This represents that the younger generation understands modern values and how efforts to increase representation and diversity work for young people.
He’s completely understanding, and ironically, more understanding than his mother. The next morning, Armando comes over to talk to Victor’s brother Adrian with the family. And then, Victor’s brother appears, and Benji reveals that he’s Victor’s boyfriend. He doesn’t believe she’d act like this if Victor were with a girl. Benji is offended, as he can sense that Isabel is insinuating her issue is with gay sex. Isabel tells Victor she’s struggling to wrap her head around the situation as it is, and she questions why Victor would do “that” with his brother in the next room. There’s an instant shock, and Victor is irritated.

I could go on for hours about the amazing acting and soundtrack and writing and directing that went into this show but I won’t bore you with that like I did my mom who I watched Love Victor with and I paused the screen every 5 minutes to gush over something small.Episode 7 saw one relationship ending, and episode 8 shows the other couples in jeopardy - the series is doing well to drip-feed complications in the story.Įpisode 8 begins with Benji and Victor hooking up intensely, and Isabel catches them. I felt his exhale and the weight lifting off his shoulders as if I were Victor himself. And then again Michael’s sigh of relief when he is hugged by the NY gang was just so real.

I know it’s very small and quick but it’s something that happens all the time in real life that you don’t see in tv and movies. The part where Tommy’s character pulls out his phone and does the “ch ch ch” thing is very realistic. I especially loved two parts that were very well acted. Also Michael Cimino and Tommy Dorfman’s performances were just spot on.
I just loved how everyone’s tone so quickly shifted from upbeat and party-ish to “oh shit” really quick. It also shed some light on gay culture that even I, as a gay guy, didn’t really understand either. It was very heartwarming and showed that not everyone has Simon’s accepting family and friends. My favorite moment of the entire show was the “this is drag” scene (as I’ve dubbed it). How about you guys? What were your favorite moments? :) Honorable mentions: See How Tight That Is? (Just for how iconic this moment was haha), Victor's parents singing Selena, Victor and Benji on the bench + Mia discovering them, Felix and Lake in his apartment, Mia figuring out Veronica is pregnant He said it in a calm but determined way and he was 100% right about everything!
